Archery

Archery was one of the first sports ever to be competed in. Wheelchair archers compete equally with able-bodied individuals and have minimal rule modifications.

Archery is one of the few sports whereby those with various physical disabilities compete against each other. There are 3 classes - ARST is the category for standing shooters with limited muscle strength loss in the legs, ARW1 is consisted of quadriplegic wheelchair bound archers, and ARW2 is for those who have more moveability and open to all wheelchair classes. Competitive rounds are generally 36 arrows shot at distances ranging from 30-90 metres.

Where is it Played?

Most local archery clubs can cater for wheelchair archers. Wheelchair Sports SA also offers regular come ‘n’ try days throughout the year. The Adelaide Archery Club shots every Thursday from 1pm.
